On May 25, 2025, the China Pavilion at Sri Jayawardenapura University in Colombo, Sri Lanka, was officially completed, marking a new stage of cooperation between China and Sri Lanka in the field of education and culture. The museum was built with the assistance of the Chinese side and took two months to complete, and will become an important platform for promoting academic exchanges and humanistic interaction between the two countries. The project is a model of Sino-Slovak “Belt and Road” educational cooperation, and is expected to become a window for the dialogue of multiple civilizations.
The China Pavilion, with a total floor area of about 450 square meters, combines modern design and traditional elements, and includes a Chinese language library, a smart classroom, a cultural exhibition hall and an academic exchange center. In the future, the museum will regularly organize Chinese language teaching, Chinese art exhibitions, science and technology lectures and other activities, providing a space for Sri Lankan teachers and students to experience Chinese culture in an immersive way. This project is another milestone in the cooperation between China and Sri Lanka in the field of humanities, demonstrating the strong commitment of both sides to mutual understanding of civilizations and win-win situation in education in the context of building the “21st Century Maritime Silk Road”.
